According to hackers, the first models of electric cars were easily hacked through a raid attack using radio beacons. Tesla was expected to improve the defence, but experts from the People’s Republic of China said that the method of bypassing the lock is as effective as before – it only requires beacons and special software.

According to Jun Li, who founded GoGoByte, you need to be close to the car’s key fob to perform the attack. For example, you can approach the owner in a cafe or place a beacon near his bedroom window. Since the door locking system also controls the immobiliser, after a successful attack, the car thief can immediately get into the car and drive away.
